まず、気を付けたいのが、「売り物」です。
普通に英作すると、
This cake is for sale.とすると、
「このケーキは売り物です。販売中です。」となります。
しかし、この文脈での、「売り物」は「店で買ってきたケーキ」ということですから
This cake was bought in a store. となります。
