『定年退職』
I retired from the school where I had dedicated my life.
What have I accomplished? — Forty-three years have passed in the blink of an eye.
I am deeply grateful for having had an environment where I was free to do things my way, for the wonderful colleagues and incredible students I had the privilege to meet, and for my wife, who pretended to be indifferent yet let me pursue what I loved.
One day, my grandchild brought me a lemon and said, “Make a lemon cake?” So, I baked a Gâteau Weekend. Without any glaze, it turned out to be a simple yet fluffy delight.
Now, as I step into what could be called the “weekend” of my life, I feel an expanding sense of excitement for the joys ahead.
