Earl and Tony were both stuck in traffic on their way to work. Earl complained, “I can’t believe this! I’m going to be late again.” Tony smiled and said, “Well, at least we have some extra time to enjoy our favorite music.” As they sat there, Earl grew more frustrated as time passed, while Tony started singing along to the radio, laughing at the difficult situation. Finally, when they reached their destination, Earl rushed into the office, still complaining about the traffic. But Tony walked in with a smile, already having forgotten about the delay, and was ready to start the day with a positive attitude. A pessimist forgets to smile, but an optimist smiles to forget.
