hope for the health and happiness of kids

My wife and I went to my daughter’s house and had a Hinamatsuri party.

Hinamatsuri, known as Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day, is a traditional Japanese festival celebrated on March 3rd. It is a day to pray for the health and happiness of girls in the family. During Hinamatsuri, families display a set of ornamental dolls called “hina dolls”, which represent the Emperor and Empress.

Last week, my grandchild had COVID-19, so it’s been a while since we saw them.

When the door opened, my grandchild jumped into my arms.

My grandchild took my hand and led me into the house, then insisted on playing a game of spot the difference.

When the grandchild found the last one he couldn’t figure out, he happily went to his mother to report.

He is really into spot-the-difference games; he even made some of their own.

I was surprised to see how much my grandchild has grown to be able to do things like this.

I prepared a Gâteau au Chocolat for Hinamatsuri.

My wife had ordered a Minnie Mouse cake, which is my grandchild’s favorite, from Cozy Corner.

Cozy Corner is a chain of pastry and cake shops in Japan.

The grandchildren also wanted to eat the Gâteau au Chocolat.

It was comical to see my daughter desperately trying to stop them, saying, ‘This cake is bitter! It’s for adults!’

This scene is typical of our household.

I hope for the health and happiness of kids in my family.
