I visited my son’s home with a Valentine’s cake I had made.
The youngest granddaughter, who is already 10 months old, has started to pull herself up to stand.
My son did his duties, like preparing baby food, feeding his baby, and changing diapers.
My son’s wife, who thinks highly of annual events, showed her talent by making large chocolate bars… she decorated her home into a studio.
I am glad to see them enjoying parenting and sharing their duties.
Has the times changed? Or was I just a stupid man who couldn’t recognize my wife’s challenges? I was a husband who had never changed a diaper.
All I can remember is always playing with my children, surrounded by big smiles. Despite feeling embarrassed about my past ignorance, I now recognize the greatness of my wife, who played a significant role in creating those good memories with our kids.
I felt like there was still a big homework left on how to express my gratitude to my wife… I promise I will do my best for the rest of my life.
バレンタインのケーキを持って息子夫婦のところへ遊びに行ってきました。
一番下の孫娘は、もう１０か月、捕まり立ちができるようになっていました。
息子は離乳食を作りオムツを替えたりちゃんと仕事をしています。イベントを大切にする息子の嫁さんは、才能を発揮し、大きな板チョコまで手作って…自宅をスタジオ化してました。笑
2人が子育てを楽しく仕事を共有している姿が微笑ましく思えました。
時代が変わったのか、自分自身が妻の苦労に気付けない不甲斐ない男だっただけなのか？…自分はオムツも替えたことない夫でした。子どもたちといつも楽しく激しく遊んでた記憶しかないことが…恥ずかしくもあり、今、妻の偉大さにも気づかされるのでした。
妻への感謝の気持ちをどう表現すれば良いのか…大きな宿題が残されているようにも感じました。がんばろっ。
