Script
A man saw a woman in the grocery store pushing a baby stroller. As they passed the cookie section, a little girl asked for cookies and her mother said no. The girl began to cry, and the mother said quietly, “Now Sarah, we just have a half of the aisles left to go through. Don’t be upset. It won’t be long.”
When they got to the check-out stand, the little girl began to ask for gum and started screaming. The mother patiently said, “Sarah, we’ll be through this check-out stand in five minutes and then you can go home. We’re going to make a lot of cookies and have a nice nap.”
The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped the woman to compliment her. “I couldn’t help noticing how patient you were with little Sarah,” he began.
The mother said, “My little girl’s name is Lucy. I’m Sarah.”

なぜまちがえたのか?
What do you learn from this story? という問ですが、男性が、I couldn’t help noticing how patient you were with little Sarah, 「サラに対してあなたがどれほど忍耐強く接していたか、気づかずにはいられなかった」と言いだすと、女性はMy little girl’s name is Lucy. I’m Sarah.「私の子どもの名前はルーシーで、私がサラです。」と、発言したことから、女性は子どもに話しかけていたわけではなく、女性自身に話しかけながらショッピングしていたことがわかるので、 正解は…4.The woman was simply shopping and talking to herself.となります。
